Ashley Elkins was reported missing by her family when she uncharacteristically failed to communicate. Deandre Booker’s arrest and subsequent revelations about his suspicious online searches have intensified the investigation. What steps are authorities taking to locate Ashley Elkins?

Ex-Boyfriend’s Suspicious Behavior Raises Alarm

The investigation into Ashley Elkins’ disappearance took a sinister turn when her ex-boyfriend, Deandre Booker, was arrested in connection with the case. Prosecutors revealed Booker’s disturbing online search history, which included queries such as “Is blood traceable” and “How to beat a polygraph.”

These revelations have intensified suspicions about Booker’s involvement in Elkins’ vanishing. Authorities also discovered searches for the fastest route from Flint to Ohio and how to delete Google history, further fueling concerns about Booker’s actions.

Family’s Anguish and Police Investigation

Ashley Elkins, described as a Black woman standing 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds, is a mother of two children aged 7 and 10. Her family reported her missing on January 3, noting her lack of communication as highly unusual.

Elkins’ mother, Monika Elkins, expressed her worry, stating, “I FaceTimed her. She didn’t answer. So I said to her, ‘Just be mindful about your surroundings, pay attention to where you’re going,’ and she didn’t call back. That’s not like her.”

Police have conducted extensive searches, including recovering Elkins’ car and examining Booker’s home. Investigators also found a dumpster from the apartment complex, potentially containing crucial evidence.

Legal Proceedings and Community Response

Deandre Booker has been arraigned on charges of lying to a peace officer, with his bond set at $250,000. He allegedly made several false statements to detectives during the investigation, further complicating the case.

Maurice Morton, Elkins’ uncle, shared the family’s devastation, saying, “The family is obviously very devastated. We’re happy to hear about an arrest. But tonight, we met with Roseville and Warren police departments, and they indicated to us that based on the evidence that Ashley had been murdered and by the ex-boyfriend at his home.”

As the community grapples with this tragic turn of events, authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Warren Police Department. The public’s assistance could prove crucial in bringing closure to Ashley Elkins’ grieving family and ensuring justice is served.
