Gates Foundation SLASHES Staff—Epstein Ties Under Review

The Gates Foundation announced massive layoffs affecting 20 percent of its workforce while launching an external investigation into Bill Gates’s relationship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, raising questions about the philanthropic giant’s future direction and leadership accountability.

Foundation Faces Internal Crisis

CEO Mark Suzman disclosed in a Tuesday internal memo that the organization commissioned an independent review examining the foundation’s engagement with Epstein. The review will also assess policies governing how philanthropic partnerships are vetted and approved. Suzman acknowledged the difficulty ahead, stating the foundation must take tough actions during this challenging period. The organization expects to provide an update on the review findings this summer.

Justice Department Revelations

Pressure intensified in January when the Justice Department released correspondence between Epstein and foundation staff members. The documents included photographs showing Gates with Epstein, along with images of Gates alongside women whose identities were redacted. The foundation responded in February, asserting it never made payments to Epstein nor employed him. Representatives stated Gates took responsibility for his actions during a staff town hall meeting. Gates has maintained his relationship with Epstein was strictly philanthropic and called meeting him a mistake.

Disturbing Email Allegations Surface

Recent Epstein file releases contained shocking claims, including a 2013 email allegedly written in the voice of Gates advisor Boris Nikolic. The email suggested Gates sought drugs to address consequences of encounters with Russian women and requested antibiotics to secretly treat his then-wife Melinda Gates. The correspondence appeared to be notes Epstein drafted for Nikolic, who seemingly planned to resign from both the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Gates Ventures following a dispute. The email referenced Gates asking Nikolic to participate in a cover-up to protect his carefully cultivated reputation. Gates has denied any contact with victims of Epstein’s sexual abuse.
